No. 12, Electric Chair

This montage combines Marko Djurica's portrait of a Green Man with an iconic image from Andy Warhol's Death and Disaster Series, which, began in 1962, included Electric Chair (1964) among its themes. Warhol's process appropriated the setting from a photograph, which depicted the capital punishment device set in the empty execution chamber at Sing Sing State Penitentiary in New York state where Julius and Ethel Rosenberg met their fate in 1953 for spying on behalf of the Soviets during the Cold War, and then transferred it to canvas. This version of Warhol's piece was chosen because its color scheme matches the Ukrainian flag.
