No. 3, The Awakening Conscience

This montage combines Marko Djurica's portrait of a Ukrainian separatist with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood painting, The Awakening Conscience (1853) by William Holman Hunt, which was completed during the mid-19th century Crimean War when Russia lost the armed conflict to an alliance between France, UK, and the Ottoman Empire. Here, as a reference to the violation perpetrated upon Ukrainian women by Russian militia during the current armed conflict, the masked Green Man replaces the British veteran upon whose lap the Victorian woman is seated provocatively.
