No. 2, Green Man Spanking His Child

This montage combines Max Ernst's Surrealist painting, The Virgin Spanking the Christ Child (1926), which is appropriated from the Mannerist period painting, Madonna with the Long Neck (1540) by Parmigianino, with Marko Djurica's portrait of a masked Green Man outfitted in fatigues. The eastern Ukrainian separatist has abused an innocent child and gazes directly at the viewer without remorse. Putin and two subordinates are shown as voyeurs peering through the window into a skewed environment walled off from reality.
